How to choose a good public relations agency

By Publicity Public Relations on May 27, 2010

When choosing a good public relations agency, the first thing you should do is to ask yourself why you need one. Do you need one to help you with one time project or for long term tactical planning? Are you trying to create new awareness, get ready for possible crisis or acquire your name out to influential members of media?

It is very important that you have clearly defined goals and it is also recommended that you ask and interview some agencies to see how they deal in getting there.

The public relations agency that you choose should be able to put together a complete plan with clear outlines on how to help you meet your objectives. Moreover, it should show you how successful the execution of similar plans in the past was. The PR agency may stand out at managing any crisis, be sure that the agency’s span of expertise and experience is what you need and require.

For other professional service providers, the best way to find a public relations agency is by recommendations. A good public relations agency must give you references of previous customers it has helped with the same objectives. Get recommendations from companies and friends that have the same size as yours and be sure to inquire members of media, if possible, those who report on your business. Journalists transact regularly with this type of agency and they know which one is hard working, effective and professional.

How to Write a Press Release

By Publicity Public Relations on November 17, 2009

A well-written press release that is published in print media like magazines, newspapers, newsletter, online media and broadcasting in television and radio media outlets will increase your publicity at no cost. It can also increase your business publicity, reliability, fame, visitors and traffic to your site and ultimately boost your business further than your expectations.

If you have an effective and well written press release, you can reach millions of potential audience for your business. It is also a must that you have a profitable and powerful marketing strategy because most people believe on what media says much more than those very expensive advertising campaigns are saying.

Here are some steps that you should consider when writing a press release:

• Headline is a very important part of a press release. This is the very first thing that the audience will see. In about more or less 20 words, you can actually grab the attention of the audience. The headline must be very dynamic, exciting and attractive summarizing the sequence given in the press release. You must think of it as a billboard, write something that will make yours different from the others. This is one way of making your business stand out.

• The summary under the headline should consist of 3 to 4 lines highlighting the most important part of your story.

• Your opening paragraph is also a very important part of press release, sometimes this is also called as a summary lead. You can start this paragraph in writing your city and state you are issuing your press releases and don’t even forget to put the date. Without the date, the audience might be wondering whether what they are reading is already outdated.
